What is the difference between a dished, semi-dished and flat steering wheel?

The dish is the distance the steering wheel is brought towards the driver relative to the hub. A dished steering wheel (greater depth, around 90-95 mm) brings the rim noticeably closer and is common in rally and track. A semi-dished wheel offers intermediate dish, and a flat steering wheel keeps the original position, making it the most common option for road cars, tuning and sim racing.

Do I need a hub (boss) to fit the OMP steering wheel?

Yes. OMP steering wheels have a standardised mounting, but they need a hub (boss) specific to your car model to be fitted. The hub keeps the steering wheel in the correct position and is supplied with the fixing bolts. Installation is simple, although we always recommend having it done by a professional.

What diameter OMP steering wheel should I choose?

The most common diameter is 350 mm, a good balance between precision and steering effort. The 330 mm and 300 mm wheels are smaller, give a more direct response and free up space in tight cockpits or for intensive sporty use. The choice depends on your driving style and your car's steering ratio.

How do I know the OMP steering wheel is genuine?

All genuine OMP steering wheels carry an anti-counterfeit hologram that certifies their authenticity. In our shop, all steering wheels are 100% genuine OMP with their certificate of authenticity. Be wary of abnormally low prices: on a safety part like the steering wheel, authenticity is not optional.

Can I fit an OMP steering wheel to a car with an airbag?

Replacing the factory steering wheel with a sports one removes the steering wheel airbag, so on a road car it can only be homologated if the vehicle does not have an airbag in the steering wheel.
