Which interior accessories does a rally car need?

The basics for preparing the cockpit are a homologated bucket seat with its mounts, an FIA harness, an extinguisher or extinguisher system and a steering wheel with its hub.

What is mandatory depends on each event, so always check the technical regulations of your championship.

How long does a bucket seat homologation last?

It depends on the standard. FIA 8855-1999 seats are valid for 5 years from manufacture (some federations allow an extension), while FIA 8862-2009 and 8855-2021 seats have a 10-year validity. The date is on the seat's FIA label.

Do harnesses expire?

Yes. Each harness strap has its own FIA label with the validity date. Check it before each season and replace the harness if it has expired, is frayed or has taken a hard impact.

What is a steering wheel hub and how do I choose mine?

The hub connects the sport steering wheel to your car's steering column and is specific to each make and model. We stock more than 1,500 steering wheel hubs. If you cannot find yours, send us the make, model and year.

Handheld extinguisher or extinguisher system?

A handheld extinguisher is mounted in the cockpit within the driver's reach. An extinguisher system is fixed and has nozzles to the cockpit and engine; homologated systems follow the FIA 8865-2015 standard. Your event regulations decide which one you need.
