Recaro seats — bucket and semi-bucket sports seats
Recaro was for more than 100 years the absolute benchmark manufacturer of automotive sports seats. Its road models — the Recaro Sportster CS, the Recaro Speed and the Recaro Pole Position — set the industry standard and became the most coveted seats among driving enthusiasts. Recaro became an official supplier to Volkswagen and Renault for their most iconic sports versions, and its competition seats equipped the best rally and track drivers in the world.

Frequently asked questions about Recaro seats
Why are original Recaro seats no longer made?
Recaro Automotive GmbH, the division making seats for road cars, filed for insolvency in 2020 and ceased trading. The COVID-19 crisis accelerated a period of financial difficulty that led to the closure of the sports seat line for road vehicles. The aviation seating and child seat divisions continued to operate under other structures. As a result, Recaro's most iconic models — Sportster CS, Speed, Pro 2000 — stopped being made. Today another company has bought back the moulds and some models, such as the Sportster and the Pole Position, are gradually being manufactured again.
What is the difference between the Recaro Sportster CS and the Recaro Speed?
The Sportster CS has slightly more open side bolsters, which makes getting in and out of the car easier and makes it very comfortable for everyday use with good support. The Speed has more pronounced side bolsters, offering more lateral support — better for dynamic driving, but slightly more restrictive when getting in and out. For everyday use with a sporty touch, the Sportster CS is the most balanced; for sportier use or occasional track days, the Speed is the choice.
Do I need a base and rails to fit a Recaro?
Yes. As with any semi-bucket seat, you need the seat base specific to your car model and, in most cases, the seat slider rails for fore-and-aft adjustment. In our shop you will find bases and rails compatible with replicas of the Recaro range. See the sports seats and semi-bucket seats category page for more information about installation and homologation.
