MAD Reinforced Springs — Reinforcement and Air Suspension Systems for Loaded Vehicles
MAD reinforced springs are designed to maintain the vehicle's original ride height when it is regularly loaded: vans, vehicles with trailers, caravans, or passenger cars that are frequently driven with the rear axle at its limit. Without proper reinforcement, the standard spring will sag under the weight, the suspension geometry will become unbalanced, and the dynamic handling—and safety—will be compromised.
MAD offers three different systems depending on the need: lowering springs (VV) , lifting and reinforcement springs (HV) , and air suspension systems (NR) . Each has different variations depending on the type of installation and vehicle.
VV System — Lowering Springs
Lowering spring kit. The "I – Height Difference" column for each part number indicates the lowering in mm per axle with this set of springs. This option is ideal for those seeking a controlled lowering while maintaining proper suspension performance.
HV System — Reinforcement, replacement and/or lifting
The most complete system in the MAD range. Unless otherwise stated, they act on the rear axle . The last digit of the part number indicates the type of installation:

HV-…0 — Parallel Booster Kit It is installed in parallel with the original suspension system, reinforcing it without replacing it. The least invasive option. ![]() |

HV-…1 — Kit of 4 replacement springs Typically, four replacement springs are used to lift and/or reinforce both axles. On older vehicles, this may involve replacing the springs on the front axle and adding auxiliary springs on the rear. ![]() |

NR System — Air Suspension
NR systems are pneumatic airbag kits, available in different formats depending on the complexity of the installation and the user's needs. Like HV systems, they can be replacements or auxiliary to the original system. The final letter code of the part number indicates the included equipment.

Frequently Asked Questions about Reinforced Springs and MAD Air Suspension
What are reinforced springs used for?
The standard springs are designed for the vehicle's weight when empty or lightly loaded. When the vehicle regularly carries heavy loads—trailers, caravans, delivery vans, or cars with a constantly full trunk—the original springs sag, the rear axle drops, and the vehicle loses geometry, stability, and control. MAD reinforced springs maintain the correct ride height even under load, improving safety and handling.
What is the difference between HV and NR systems?
HV systems are mechanical springs—made of steel—that reinforce or replace the original spring with a stiffer spring rate. They are the simplest and most economical solution, requiring no maintenance. NR systems are pneumatic: air springs that inflate or deflate according to the load, allowing for real-time adjustment of height and stiffness. The main advantage of NR systems is that the vehicle continues to drive comfortably even with a light load; mechanical HV systems always operate at the same spring rate regardless of the load.
What is the difference between the NR kit with an onboard compressor and the one that uses an external compressor?
Basic kits (NR without a letter or NR-B) include Schrader valves accessible from outside the vehicle—just like tire valves—and can be inflated with any external compressor or tire inflator. Comfort kits (NR-C, NR-CS, NR-CM) include an onboard compressor installed in the vehicle, with an interior control panel from which you can adjust the air spring pressure without leaving the car. The NR-R kit adds an automatic self-leveling sensor.
Do MAD reinforced springs require approval for the MOT test?
It depends on the type of system. Kits that replace the original spring with one of a different spring rate are considered a major modification and must be certified. Auxiliary systems installed alongside the original spring without modifying it may be considered differently, but in any case, we recommend consulting a certification specialist before installation. How do I know which MAD reference I need for my vehicle?
Each MAD part number is designed for a specific model. The last digit (in HV) or the final letters (in NR) of the part number indicate the type of installation.
