Sports shock absorbers for cars.

Sport shock absorbers

The shock absorber is an element that is part of the suspension system in the car.

This system is responsible for receiving the oscillations of the terrain to minimize or suppress them in such a way that the vehicle does not become unbalanced, creating a feeling of comfort for the occupants.

Sports shock absorbers are characterized by having a greater hardness than the original one, and in some cases they have a shorter rod to be mounted with short sports springs.

How does the shock absorber work?

The suspension system is made up of two elements that are responsible for absorbing the energy produced by deformations in the terrain.

On the one hand we have the spring, which is responsible for absorbing the energy produced, and on the other, an element that dissipates the energy in a controlled manner (shock absorber).

This set of elements works in tandem. The spring works in torsion, shortening its length and returning to its position when the stress that produces the deformation ceases.

What types of shock absorbers exist?

  1. Oil-filled shock absorbers : These are usually the parts that come as standard. They are the cheapest, but at the same time, they lose resistance quickly and eventually wear out.
  2. Gas shock absorbers : they are similar to the previous ones, they also use oil, with the difference that inert gas is introduced under pressure.
  3. Twin-tube shock absorbers : although they are sold as gas shock absorbers, they are usually oil-filled. They tend to be more comfortable when the oscillations are slight.
  4. Mono-tube gas shock absorbers : the gas and oil are in the same tube, but do not come into contact. This technology increases ride comfort.
  5. Single-way shock absorbers : These can have up to 4 ways. The ways are valves that allow the oil to circulate. When the shock absorber has only one way, it is called a conventional shock absorber. These ways or valves can be adjusted or fixed. The 4-way shock absorber is reserved exclusively for racing vehicles, especially on uneven terrain circuits.
