Odyssey Batteries
ODYSSEY Extreme batteries offer great starting power and enormous reserve capacity, making them the best-selling racing batteries .
Even at very low temperatures, ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries have more than enough power to deliver cranking pulses in excess of 2250A for 5 seconds – that’s two to three times more than a conventional battery of the same size. And they can handle 400 charge-discharge cycles with deep discharge of up to 80%.
ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries are capable of handling any power requirement from starting high-compression engines to driving high-intensity lights, and can be mounted in virtually any position.
Thanks to their robustness and TPPL technology, ODYSSEY batteries have a design life of 8-12 years and a service life of 3-10 years.
Where do Odyssey batteries get so much power?
They are made of flat plates of 99.99% pure lead, not lead alloy. Pure lead plates can be made
thinner so that more can fit in the same space, which means more surface area and therefore more power than conventional ones.
Tips for Odyssey batteries
- Never use a battery with a voltage lower than 11.5v
- Never charge the battery in a sealed compartment.
- Odyssey batteries have a higher resistance to vibrations, it is recommended to add absorption foam between the battery and the chassis.
- It can be placed in any position except with the terminals facing down.
- It is mandatory to use a gel battery charger with AGM technology.
- After each use it is essential to keep it in "Floating" mode because, as they are dry batteries, discharges are not noticeable (a discharged battery loses its warranty).
