Brakes

What should I change first to improve braking?

On most cars, the most effective first step is to replace the brake fluid with one that has a higher boiling point and fit performance pads suited to your use. Then braided lines and high-performance discs.

What is the difference between grooved and drilled discs?

Grooves help clear gases and pad debris and keep the pad surface clean. Drilled holes also help cooling, but under very heavy use they can encourage cracking. That is why grooved discs are usually preferred on track.

Can I use racing pads on the road?

It is not recommended. Racing compounds need to reach temperature to brake well, and when cold they can brake less than a road pad. For mixed use there are performance compounds designed to work well from cold.

Why fit braided brake lines?

Rubber hoses expand slightly under circuit pressure. Braided lines barely do, so the pedal is firmer and braking is easier to modulate.

Why does the pedal sink when the brakes get hot?

It is usually because the brake fluid has boiled and vapour bubbles have formed in the circuit. A fluid with a higher boiling point and in good condition reduces this problem.

How do I know which discs and pads my car has?

Go to the relevant subcategory and search for your make and model. If your car has different brake sizes depending on the version, send us the exact model or the VIN and we will confirm the part number.

Can I finance my purchase?

Yes. You can pay in instalments with SeQura instantly and without paperwork, directly at checkout.
