SDT Brakes performance brake pads — a specialist manufacturer

SDT Brakes is a manufacturer that specialises exclusively in high-performance brakes. Unlike the big replacement-parts brands that offer generic ranges, SDT develops its own compounds specifically for sporty driving and intensive use: better initial bite, progressive feel, good thermal stability and even wear that looks after the disc. At Rodiauto Sport we are the official SDT Brakes distributors in Spain.

The SDT range covers everything from sporty road driving to track and rally. Each reference is designed for a specific caliper and car model — there are no universal pads — which guarantees a perfect fit and stable braking with no noise or vibration.

SDT compound range

S-50 High Performance
Organic compound for road and intensive sporty use. ECE R90 approved. Temperature range up to 550 °C. Progressive response from cold, low dust and kind to the disc. Ideal for everyday sporty driving, mountain roads and occasional track days.

RS55 Racing
A pure competition organic-metallic compound. Not ECE R90 approved. Friction coefficient above 0.50. Thermal resistance up to 700 °C and excellent initial bite. Validated on the León Cupra, Mégane RS, rally cars and formula cars. For track days, track and rally.

RT66 Racing
Semi-metallic compound for track days and track. Higher friction coefficient than the S-50. Needs to reach operating temperature to perform at its best.

RR80 Racing
High-friction compound for high-level rally and track. The most popular in our shop. Maximum grip under heavy braking and when hot.

Frequently asked questions about SDT Brakes pads

What is the difference between SDT S-50 and RS55 pads?

The S-50 High Performance is the road compound: ECE R90 approved, it works from ambient temperature and is perfect for everyday sporty driving, mountain roads and occasional track days. The RS55 Racing is a higher-friction compound designed for track use, where the pad always works hot. For mixed road/track use, the S-50 is the most versatile choice; for pure track use, the RS55 offers better performance at high temperatures.

Are S-50 pads suitable for everyday road use?

Yes. The S-50 is ECE R90 approved, which means it meets European safety regulations for road use. It is designed to perform from ambient temperature, with no warm-up needed, and offers a good progressive feel in everyday use combined with greater braking capacity under heavy loads. It is the ideal choice for anyone looking for a step up in quality over OEM pads without giving up everyday comfort.

What is the difference between RR80 and RT66?

The RT66 is a high-performance semi-metallic compound, very popular for track days and as a rear-axle pad in rallies. The RR80 has a higher friction coefficient and is aimed at high-level track and rally use, where braking is more intense and repeated. Both need operating temperature to perform at their best, so they are not recommended for road-only use. The RR80 is the best-selling compound in the SDT racing range in our shop.

Do new pads need bedding in?

Yes, it is highly recommended. Bedding in consists of several progressive stops from medium speed without braking to the limit, to transfer pad material onto the disc surface. Good bedding in improves initial bite, reduces noise and extends pad life. With SDT S-50 pads, around 10-15 progressive stops in the first 200 km is enough. The RT66 and RR80 racing compounds require more careful bedding in with gradual heating and cooling cycles.

What are anti-noise shims for?

Shims are thin plates placed between the pad and the caliper piston. Their job is to absorb the vibrations that cause squeal, which is especially common with racing compounds fitted to road cars. They are the professional solution compared with copper paste, which contaminates the system and does not always fix the root cause. If you still have squeal after fitting the pads correctly, SDT shims are the next step.

How do I know which SDT reference fits my car?

Each product page in our shop shows which models, engines and years the reference fits. SDT does not make universal pads: each pad is designed for a specific caliper and disc. If you are unsure which reference fits your car, ask us with the make, model, engine and year — we will confirm the correct reference before you buy.
