EBC GD pre-drilled/scored discs were invented back in the 90's, and have been imitated by many, for their ability to offer pad wear without cracking or ending up with a cracked disc, this is because only 3mm of pre-drilled is enough to clean the contact area with the pad and does not have the disadvantages of a drilled disc.

The wider aperture pre-drilled discs on EBC units actually draw cold air to the pad and disc surface, helping to cool the pad temperature on contact, which could rise above 1000 degrees at the centre point of the pad during hard braking and could cause braking fade or loss of braking effect, but this is prevented by the disc design itself.

These fully sweeping slots also help to remove dirty dust and water impurities from the braking area, but without a doubt one of the greatest benefits of these sport discs besides ventilating the contact surface with the pad is their ability to keep the pad surface flat and uniform throughout the life of the pad set.
